Developed from a species introduced from Russia in the 1870s, this hardy annual poppy bears large scarlet red flowers with eye-catching black spots in the centre, like a ladybird! Forming neat clumps of finely cut foliage, Poppy 'Ladybird' is perfect as an annual bedding plant where it will bring vibrant colour and movement to your beds and borders all summer long. Holding an RHS AGM, this Caucasian Scarlet Poppy is so easy to grow and a wonderful addition to wildlife and cottage gardens. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 15cm (6").

Pot up poppy plug plants and grow them on in frost free conditions. When poppy plants are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days and transplant into beds and borders. Grow annual poppies in a sunny position in any well drained, fertile soil.

Water poppy plants regularly until well established. Annual poppies self seed freely. Remove faded poppy flowers if seedlings are not wanted the following year.

Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above. Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes, etc. are delivered at the appropriate time for planting or potting on. Delivery times will be stated on the product page above, or in your order acknowledgement page and email.
