Few house plants are as dramatic as Alocasia x amazonica! The wavy edged leaves are dark green with purple undersides, and patterned with silvery-white veins that create an impressive contrast. This magnificent evergreen enjoys a lightly shaded spot in a warm room or conservatory. Awarded a prestigious RHS AGM, this showy house plant makes a superb focal point for your home. Height and spread: 1m (39").

Alocasia require bright filtered light, well away from the scorch of direct sun. Choose a warm room with a constant temperature above 15C (59F), and position the plant away from central heating and draughty doorways.

Water Alocasia regularly allowing the soil surface to dry out between each watering. Always allow the pot to drain properly afterwards. In winter, reduce watering to prevent the soil becoming soggy and waterlogged, as this will cause the plant to rot. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Alocasia appreciates a humid atmosphere - stand it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it will increase humidity around the plant.
