Delicate white blooms with ruffled, purple pictoee edges are carried above clumps of strap-like foliage. This stunning variety has been awarded an RHS AGM and it’s easy to see why! Prized for their large, open flowers, these oriental beauties are the last to flower in the iris family, but well worth waiting for. The pretty blooms of Iris ensata 'Frilled Enchantment' are perfect for adding to cut flower arrangements. Japanese iris enjoy a reliably moist, boggy soil making them ideal for marginal planting around ponds. Height: 80cm (31"). Spread: 30cm (12"). Bareroot plants supplied.

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. Plant bareroot Japanese iris at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Japanese iris plants thrive in moist, acid or neutral soil in a sunny or semi-shaded position. These moisture loving iris require a rich, fertile soil which has had plenty of well rotted organic matter added into the soil prior to planting. Avoid submerging iris ensata in ponds and streams as this may cause them to rot. Instead, plant them in moist ground at the water's edge, or in damp borders and bog gardens with their roots in the shade and their heads in the sun.

Iris ensata require reliably moist soil. Water if necessary to prevent the soil from drying out. Overcrowded clumps of Japanese iris plants can be divided in autumn after flowering. Mulch around the base of iris ensata in spring to help retain moisture at their roots.
