Growing to just 2.5m in 10 years, this is also a compact variety which will happily grow in a large tub if kept well-watered and fed regularly, meaning that everyone has the opportunity to grow it, with or without a garden (NB this is not a houseplant). Possibly the best blue conifer there is, Super Blue is slow growing with dense, narrowly conical growth, with rigid, prickly, silvery-blue needles, the overall effect is a metallic-like, steely-blue sheen Grow in moist but well-drained acidic soil with shelter from cold drying winds. Can be grown in full sun or part shade and is easy to maintain, requiring little to no pruning. An ideal alternative to more traditional Christmas trees, the blue colour intensifies as the tree ages, bringing interest to your garden all year round.
