Perennial. Wonderful salad herb and spinach substitute. Has finer leaves than Common Sorrel. Excellent eaten raw as a salad. Can be prepared with hardly any vinegar or lemon juice as the leaves themselves are somewhat sour in taste. Also goes well in soups
